There are two main Pest species in the country German (Blattella germanica) and Oriental (Blatta orientalis)

There are a few nuisance species too, these being Dusky (Ectobius lapponicus) and Tawny (Ectobius pallidus) These are mainly outdoor insects that live in rotten wood.

Cockroaches foul their environment with faeces or castings, and regurgitated food. They taint materials with their characteristic smell and the air in infested premises may contain fragments of their exoskeletons and cockroach excrement.

They move from filth to food indiscriminately and are therefore implicated in the mechanical transmission of pathogens such as those causing food poisoning and wound infections. Susceptible individuals may respond to exposure to allergens in cockroach
excrement and cast skins, developing an allergic response such as allergic rhinitis or dermatitis.

Treatment

We start with a thorough inspection of the property to find the extent of the infestation. Traps may be used in this stage to identify any issues in adjoining buildings or areas sharing common services.

We use a Professional Gel bait that is placed in strategic places to get the insecticide to the insects as quick as possible. The uptake is usually quick and results are seen in a matter of a few days.

This strategy can be used in highly sensitive areas as the application is in small doses in cracks and crevices.

A spray treatment may be needed in certain circumstances.
